• VAUXHALL T CAR - CHEVETTE SPECIAL DEALER LAUNCH PACK 03.80
Image description

1979 was an absolute disater for Vauxhall, demand for cars had surged just at a time when , unusually for Vauxhall, it had been plagued by industrial action which meant it had lost a significant number of valuable sales and market share. 1980 proved the reverse, Vauxhall production was uninterupted and in full swing just as the car market nosedived into a depression, largely as a result of a totally inept government in the UK. The result was Vauxhall had fields of unsold cars and instituted a marketing programme called "Action 80" which included hugely increased dealer incentives and even list price reductions that were forced on it by the same action from competitors. As far as the Chevette was concerned it started what was to become a plague of limited editions starting in March 1980 with the straight forwardly named Chevette Special.
